About Clockwise and This Beta

Clockwise is a hosting platform for Discord bots. You paste a Python script written with discord.py, and we run it continuously on our own hardware so your bot stays online without you managing a server.

Clockwise is currently in beta. That means the service is still evolving, features may change or break, and downtime or data loss can happen. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of major changes, but we cannot guarantee it during beta.

Eligibility

Clockwise is a tool built for developers, not for the general public. To use it you must be a developer capable of writing and maintaining your own bot code, and you must be at least 16 years old.

By creating an account you confirm that both of these are true. If you do not meet these requirements, you may not use Clockwise. If we learn that an account does not, we may suspend or delete it.

Your Account

You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Keep your login details private and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up and to keep it current.

Free Tier and Limits

During beta, the free tier allows one bot per account and runs for a 14-day trial period. Resource limits, trial length, and tier structure may change as the service develops.

We may enforce reasonable limits on compute, memory, network use, and uptime to keep the platform stable for everyone. We will tell you if your bot is exceeding what the platform can fairly provide.

Your Code and Content

You own your code. Clockwise claims no ownership over the scripts, bot logic, or content you upload.

To actually run your bot, we need a limited license. By uploading a script you grant Clockwise a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, process, and execute your code and associated data solely for the purpose of operating the service and providing it to you. This license exists only so we can run your bot; it ends when you delete your code or your account, except for residual backups that age out on our normal cycle.

What You Are Responsible For

You are fully responsible for what your bot does. This includes complying with Discord's Terms of Service and Developer Policies, with the rules of any server your bot joins, and with all applicable laws.

You are responsible for safeguarding your bot token and any other secrets in your script. You are responsible for your bot's behavior toward Discord users, including messages it sends, data it collects, and actions it takes. Clockwise hosts your code; it does not author or control what your bot does inside Discord.

What Clockwise Reviews (and What It Doesn't)

Clockwise does not review, police, or judge what your bot is for or what it does inside Discord. Your bot's purpose, features, and logic are your own business. We are a hosting provider, not a moderator of your product.

The one thing we do inspect for is whether your code could harm, abuse, or compromise Clockwise's own servers and infrastructure, for example by trying to read the host filesystem, run shell commands, or escape the sandbox. An automated safety check blocks code that attacks the host. Everything else about your bot's logic is left to you, and the responsibility for following Discord's rules and the law stays with you.

Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if your code or activity threatens the integrity, security, or availability of our infrastructure or other users, if you violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or if required by law. Where practical and safe, we will tell you why.

You may stop using Clockwise at any time and delete your account and data from your account settings.

No Warranty

Clockwise is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that your bot will stay online. This is especially true during beta.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clockwise and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, or fifty US dollars. Because Clockwise is currently free during beta, this amount will often be zero.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Clockwise and its operators against claims, damages, and costs arising from your bot, your code, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, Discord's rules, or the law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Clockwise grows out of beta and the service changes. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where reasonable, notify you. Continuing to use Clockwise after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
